چکیده

—Predicting the performance of ad-hoc networking protocols has typically been performed by making use of software based simulation tools. Experimental study and validation of such predictions is vital to obtaining more realistic results, but may not be possible under the constrained environment of network simulators. This paper presents experimental comparisons of routing protocols using a 7 by 7 grid of closely spaced WiFi nodes. It firstly demonstrates the usefulness of the grid in its ability to emulate a real world multi-hop ad-hoc network. It specifically compares hop count, routing traffic overhead, throughput, delay and packet loss for three protocols which are listed by the IETF MANET working group. These are AODV, OLSR and DYMO

Comparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

Secure Routing Protocol: Affection on MANETs Performance

In mobile ad hoc networks, the absence ofinfrastructure and the consequent absence of authorizationfacilities impede the usual practice of establishing a practicalcriterion to distinguishing nodes as trusted and distrusted.Since all nodes in the MANETs would be used as router inmulti-hop applications, secure routing protocols have vital rulein the security of the network. So evaluating the perf...

The Performance and Simulative analysis of MANET Routing Protocols with Different Mobility Models

A Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) consists of a number of mobile nodes. These mobile nodes can communicate without any centralized control mechanism. MANETs are self-organizing and selfconfiguring multi node wireless networks without any infrastructure. In MANET the structure of the network changes dynamically. The fundamental characteristic of MANETs which differentiate it from other wireless or...

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

On the Robustness of Simple Indoor MANET Simulation Models

We show that simple radio propagation and node mobility models widely used in MANET evaluation are not robust in indoor environments. Robust simulation models let researchers extrapolate simulation results and reach reliable conclusions about expected protocol performance. We experiment with two representative MANET routing protocols under different mobility and radio propagation models with de...
